Did Sai Pallavi deserve to win the National Award for Best Actress over Nithya Menen? This is what the Tiruchithambalam actress has to say

Must read

Nithya Menen’s performance in Thiruchithambalam earned her the prestigious National Award for Best Actress this year. However, while her fans are extremely happy with this huge achievement, some critics criticized that Sai Pallavi deserved the award more than her for the film Gargi.

Addressing the matter during a conversation with Rudrani Chattoraj, Nithya explained how she feels about the criticism. He said that there will always be people who will have contradictions and opinions to form, where they will evaluate the actors whether they really deserve to win or not.

Nitya said, “There are always opinions. If you don’t understand then say, ‘Oh, maybe she is not doing the film.’ Then you will get this; They say, ‘Oh, not for this film, maybe for some other film.’ If you don’t understand it, they say, ‘Oh! Why didn’t he get it?’ It will always be there.”

Taking the conversation further, Nithya also revealed how a light-hearted romantic comedy like Tiruchitrambalam won over the serious courtroom drama of Sai Pallavi’s Gargi in the race for the 70th National Awards.

He mentioned that his approach to each of his films has always been to consider it a new path. However, Nithya insisted on her win and claimed that no one can argue that the award should not have gone to her.

The diva said, “I think, as I have always done, with every film and every choice throughout my career, it is the same. This is a statement. It is also a road less traveled. I will always be the one to take a different path and still be there. I don’t think anyone can argue that it shouldn’t come to me.

Well, earlier, during an interview with Indian Express right after winning the 70th National Awards, Nithya Menen had commented on how she didn’t think a film like Thiruchitrambalam was worthy of winning such a prestigious award.

However, he clarified that he feels that even light-hearted dramas should get equal recognition at the national level, something that audiences love to see.

On the work front, Nithya has a few films lined up, including Kadhalika Neramillai with Jayam Ravi and Idli Kadhai with Dhanush.
