After launching the flagship smartphones, Apple is planning another event for more hardware products, including iPad 7th Gen Mini, M4 powered MacBooks and more. But there is still no trace of smart rings in the company’s books. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has no intentions of entering the smart ring market. There are many smart rings available, such as Ora Ring, Samsung, Bot and more, offering features like heart rate monitoring, body temperature tracking, and sleep analysis. While smart rings are gaining popularity, these functions are already present on the Apple Watch. So, the concern here is that if Apple would provide similar health features, there are chances that it could put the Apple Watch audience at risk.

But it is not that Apple never thought about it. Earlier this year, in February, Gurman reported that Apple’s industrial team had proposed developing a smart ring as a more affordable alternative to the Apple Watch. However, company executives were not enthusiastic, and the idea did not proceed into active development. Around the same time, Korean site Electronic Times claimed that Apple is accelerating work on a health-focused smart ring, reportedly considering it as a new addition to its wearables lineup. This rumor comes around the same time as Samsung launching its smart ring in July 2024.

Samsung became the first tech giant to bring a Galaxy Smart Ring to the market. It offers a number of health features, including measuring heart rate, sleep patterns, and more. This could be another reason why Apple is not confident in bringing its own smart ring. It has been observed that Apple never followed Samsung’s trends even when provoked many times. For example, Samsung keeps teasing Apple about foldable devices. It once commented just before the iPhone launch, saying, let us know when it will turn around.

Instead of introducing a smart ring, Apple is more likely to focus on making the Watch more accessible. Reports suggest that the new Apple Watch SE model to be released in 2025 may feature a plastic casing, which could reduce its price. This could appeal to customers looking for a more affordable, durable option, especially for kids or those looking for a budget-friendly wearable item. In the launch date of 2024, the tech giant has launched its latest Apple Watch Series 10.

Now, Apple is considering showcasing a redesigned M4 Mac mini alongside a new M4 24-inch iMac. The M4 Macs are expected to launch in the last week of October, with shipments starting in early November. The popular MacBook Pro will be updated with the M4 chip, and Apple is set to introduce three versions: the base M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max. Apple may also refresh its iPad lineup. While the iPad Pro was already updated this year, the entry-level iPads and iPad Mini can see the update. The iPad 11th generation and iPad Mini 7th generation are likely to be unveiled at the event.
