Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike will star in Netflix’s Ladies First, a romantic-comedy directed by Thea Sharrock. The film is adapted from a French film titled Je ne suis pas un homme facile, directed by Eléonore Pourriot. It is the story of a feminist, played by Cohen, who lives in a world dominated by women.
A temperamental female counterpart, played by Pike, will add to the complexities of Cohen’s life. As part of her creative partnership with Netflix, where she is also working on two other projects – the Laura Dern-starrer Lonely Plane and the Sofia Carson-starrer The Life List – 3Dot Productions’ Liza Chassin is producing the film with Eléonore Daly, Edouard de Lachommette. Will co-produce. And four by two films.
Cohen will next be seen alongside Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline in the Apple TV+ series Disclaimer, directed by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron. He last appeared in Netflix’s The Trial of the Chicago 7, for which he received an Oscar nomination. He is also famous for his roles in Borat and the animated film Luca. His mockumentary Borat Subsequent Moviefilm also earned him an Academy Award for its screenplay.
Pike, best known for her roles in Pride & Prejudice and Gone Girl, recently starred in the hit but controversial psychological thriller and dark comedy series Saltburn, where she played an attractive matriarch of a wealthy family. Additionally, she also appeared in the third season of Wheel of Time, Thumblight, and Now You See Me 3.
The actress is set to make her National Theater debut with Inter Alia from Suzie Miller, the creator of the legal drama Prima Facie that shot Jodie Comer to fame, earning her an Oliver and Tony Award.
