Trigger warning: This article contains references to sexual abuse

Sean Diddy Combs, once an all-powerful figure in show business, is still quite a powerful man, even though he is now in the custody of federal authorities. Diddy was arrested in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking, transportation for prostitution, and racketeering, among many other charges. Although he has denied all charges, he could face life imprisonment if found guilty.

A source told People Magazine that many people would still be cautious of crossing the rapper even if serious allegations were made against him. The 54-year-old rapper has been detained in a facility in Brooklyn New York, where he has twice been denied bail while he faces federal sex trafficking charges as well as other pending civil lawsuits.

As sources say, it was clear in the industry how controlling and in power Combs was, even now, he maintains that control while behind bars. The outlet’s insider said, “He’s very powerful. Everyone was afraid to cross him. Even though he’s behind bars now, he’s still very powerful. We all knew it then.”

The source also noted that Diddy has always liked to run things his own way, a quality people attribute to his creative mind, which many describe as genius.

Last month, Diddy faced a formal indictment for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation of persons for the purposes of prostitution, among other charges. However, he denied all the allegations. The insider insisted, “He’s incredibly smart. He knows a lot of people, and he’s helped a lot of people — so a lot of people are grateful to him. He knows that.”

According to the outlet, Combs may soon face more trials as 120 more accusers are reportedly coming forward with charges. The indictment mentions his notorious “eccentric deeds” which included forced sexual acts with women and male sex workers. Combs’ legal team disputes these claims.

Regarding the allegations, Sean Diddy Combs’ mother, Janice Smalls Combs, defended her son in a press release distributed to the media. He addressed his belief that his son is not guilty. “My son is not the monster they’ve painted him out to be,” he said. She hopes for an opportunity where the Bad Boy Records founder can tell his side of the story.
