Veteran actress Jennifer Garner shared an interesting first coffee experience in her recent interview. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 3, Garner told the hilarious story of the “very special first day of coffee” in her life.
She remembered a time nearly 30 years ago when she was living in New York City, struggling while working at a restaurant and auditioning for acting jobs. Garner was cast as a potential girlfriend in an episode of Law & Order opposite star Benjamin Bratt.
What happened next was nothing less than a funny tale of coffee overdose and anxiety for the actress. Garner later described the feeling of the experience of hosting Kelly Clarkson as, “I felt like I could taste my heart beating, you know?”

Before shooting, Bratt suggested the two meet for coffee together to get to know each other before shooting their scenes. Now, despite never drinking coffee before, Garner – who was 20 at the time Thi- told Bratt, “Oh yes, absolutely.”
Garner admitted to Clarkson that she was trying to be too coy and immediately agreed to his offer to meet for coffee.
As soon as Garner and Bratt met, the Miss Congeniality star ordered a double latte with an extra shot. “So it was three shots of espresso in a latte!” Garner explained to Clarkson. “And I was like, ‘I’ll get the same thing.’ I’m sure I put a cup of sugar in it.”
She had almost reached her caffeine intake limit when Benjamin Bratt told her, “I’ll take another one.” Garner replied, “Yeah, feels good,” and followed him.
Unfortunately for Garner, all that coffee didn’t do her any good. Later she felt so anxious and numb that she had to cancel the audition scheduled for that day.
However, as life often surprises us, she has since become a huge fan of this drink. Garner enjoys mixing up her coffee routine and often opts for an almond milk cappucino. Sometimes she chooses a flat white or cortado, as people have mentioned.
