South Indian cinema legend Vijay surprised fans earlier this year by announcing the formation of his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, on February 2, 2024. In a statement, he also revealed that he would be stepping away from acting. He completed two more films – GOAT (Greatest of All Time) and Thalapathi 69 – to fully devote himself to politics in Tamil Nadu.
Thalapathy Vijay announced the name of his political party on 2 February, a few days after the general body meeting. His party members will contest the 2026 elections.
Thalapathi 69 is the actor’s last film Before he entered politics full-time. Vijay officially launched his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, and will hold the first meeting later this month. Preparations for this are going on.
