1. Bareilly Barfi

Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Bareilly Ki Barfi stars Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. In the quirky romantic comedy, Kriti played the role of Bitti Mishra, an outspoken woman from Bareilly who comes across a book titled Bareilly Ki Barfi. He realizes that he himself is the hero of the book. Bitti decides to find writer Pritam Vidrohi, as she believes he likes her just the way she is.

Ayushmann has played the character of Chirag Dubey, the author of the book ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’. Rajkumar was cast as an innocent salesman who becomes a rebel after Ayushmann’s character convinces Pritam. The film is available on Netflix.

2. double up

Starring real-life couple actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, Do Dooni Chaar was released in 2010. Directed by Habib Faisal, the film also stars Aditi Vasudev and Archit Khanna. The comedy film is the story of Rishi’s character Santosh Duggal, a school teacher from a middle-class family living in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi.

Duggal tries to provide a comfortable life to his wife and children. One day, the Duggal family decides to buy a car. Neetu Kapoor played the role of his on-screen wife Kusum Duggal in the 2010 film. The Kapoor couple’s acting was the highlight of the film. Watch the movie to know how it happens.

3. Barfi

Directed by Anurag Basu, Barfi starred Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz. Saurabh Shukla also played an important role in the 2012 film. Ranbir played the role of Barfi aka Murphy, a deaf and mute man who has a crush on Shruti Ghosh (Ileana’s character).

Priyanka was cast in the role of Jhilmil Chatterjee, Barfi’s autistic childhood friend, whom he tries to kidnap. Under Basu’s direction, Saurabh Shukla was cast in the role of Police Inspector Sudhanshu Dutta. Watch the movie to cherish their innocent love triangle.

4. Sometimes yes, sometimes no

Shahrukh Khan considers Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na as his all-time favorite film. Directed by Kundan Shah, the 1994 film starred Shah Rukh and Suchitra Krishnamurthy in the lead roles. Actor Deepak Tijori was cast in an important role. The film also starred Naseeruddin Shah, Satish Shah and others. Juhi Chawla made a special appearance in the Shah Rukh-Suchitra starrer.

‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’ is the story of Sunil, a music lover who has no interest in studies and has a crush on a girl named Anna.

5. PK

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, PK starred Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The 2014 film also featured late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in an important role. Directed by Hirani, the film also featured Saurabh Shukla, Boman Irani and Sanjay Dutt.

The science fiction comedy-drama was a religious satire about PK, a humanoid alien who arrives on Earth. In the film, Anushka played the role of Janani Sahni, a journalist. Saurabh was cast in the role of self-proclaimed Lord Tapasvi Maharaj. Sushant played Anushka’s on-screen boyfriend Pakistan’s Sarfaraz Yusuf.

6. Chup Chup Ke

Remember Gundya and Bandya of Chup Chup Ke? The iconic film starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal was directed by Priyadarshan. The 2006 comedy-drama was about Shahid’s character Jeetu who fakes his death to save himself from debt. Two fishermen, Gundya Lal and Bandya Lal, find his body in the river and mistake him for a deaf and mute man. In the film, Kareena played the character of a mute girl Shruti.

Chup Chup Ke is remembered for the stellar performances of Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal who transcend the lead characters. Its dialogues have become iconic over the years.
