A video of Diljit Dosanjh introducing himself to his mother and sister for the first time at the Manchester concert is being shared widely on the internet.
Global sensation singer Diljit Dosanjh introduced his family for the first time at his recent concert in Manchester, UK. The Punjabi singer has earlier mentioned that he does not want to bring them into the public limelight for the safety of his family.
In a video that is now being shared widely on the internet, Diljit approaches an elderly woman in the crowd at his Manchester concert. Then he sings emotional lines, “Dil tenu de ditta main ta soneya, jaan tere kadam cha cha rakhi hoi ae,” From the song Hass Hass. It simply translates to, “I have given you my heart and I lay down my life at your feet, darling.”
Introducing his mother Sukhwinder Kaur to the packed stadium, Diljit says, “By the way, this is my mother.” As the camera pans towards Kaur, she is seen getting emotional. Diljeet hugged him and patted his back. He then goes ahead and bows before his sister and also introduces her, “She is my sister. Today my family has also come (Today my family is also here).”
The Amar Singh Chamkila actor once shared that he had decided to keep his family away from the public eye due to an incident that happened early in his career. He said that he is being criticized and his family is suffering the consequences. So, they decided to keep him safe while people could criticize him for his work.
earlier this year, Diljeet again remembered his childhood. He remembered how his parents had sent him to Ludhiana with his maternal uncle without even asking him once. Diljit said that because he moved away from his family at such a young age, he “lost connection” not only with them but with everyone.
Speaking to Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast BearBiceps, Diljit said, “When I was 11 years old, I left my home. I moved from my village to my uncle’s house in Ludhiana. My uncle told my father, ‘Send him to the city with me (Send him to the city with me).’ My parents agreed and said, ‘take Hanji (Take him with you).’ “No one asked me whether I wanted to go or not.”
