BookMyShow on Coldplay concert ticketing issue: We ensured every fan a fair chance
BookMyShow addresses concerns over the black market sale of Coldplay tickets, clarifying its fair ticketing measures. It also said that it has no connection with any unauthorized ticket sales platform.

On September 22, the much-awaited concert saw a surprising increase in ticket sales 13 million fans logged in to the ticket booking platform. “At BookMyShow, we’ve worked hard to ensure that every fan has a fair chance to secure a ticket,” a BookMyShow spokesperson said, including limiting purchases to four tickets per user and providing clear booking guidelines. Emphasis was placed on the company’s efforts.
To manage the huge demand, BookMyShow implemented a queuing system, which caused slight delays but was intended to minimize disruption for genuine fans. The spokesperson said that due to the unprecedented interest, A third show added in MumbaiWhich also received encouraging response from fans.
However, the company has expressed concern over unauthorized ticket sales. The spokesperson said, “It has come to our attention that unauthorized platforms have listed (and are continuing to list) Coldplay concert tickets both before and after official sales.” BookMyShow clarified that its Viagogo and Gigsburg has no affiliation with any unauthorized ticket selling platforms, and strongly opposes ticket scalping and black marketing.
“Scalping and black marketing of tickets is strictly condemned in India and punishable by law, and BookMyShow strongly opposes this practice. We have not only filed a complaint with the police authorities, but are also actively working with them to provide any necessary assistance in the investigation of this matter.
The spokesperson urged consumers to remain vigilant, reiterating that tickets purchased from unauthorized sources come with significant risk and may be invalid or counterfeit.
British pop band Coldplay is coming to India after eight years and is scheduled to perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, 2025, as part of its Music of the Spheres World Tour.
Tickets were originally priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 35,000. However, reseller tickets on platforms like Viagogo were offered at prices ranging from Rs 35,000 to Rs 3 lakh and even higher.
