Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Devara: Part One has taken a bumper opening worldwide. After earning Rs 98.3 crore, it opened with a worldwide collection of Rs 145 crore on Friday, the trade website reports. SacnilkKoratala Siva-directed showed great pace on the first day. Taking into account advance sales, early trade expectations suggest a worldwide gross of around Rs 125 crore. However, the film has surpassed all expectations and is now likely to maintain its growth throughout the weekend.

Devara has emerged as the second biggest Indian opener of the year at the domestic and worldwide box office. It is behind only Kalki 2898 AD in the list of top Indian openers of the year. The Prabhas-starrer grossed around Rs 177 crore globally, and Rs 114 crore in India.

The action drama, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, is Jr NTR’s first solo release in six years. This is also his second film after the mega global success of RRR. However, Devara’s debut has proved that the actor is indeed a people’s hero and his presence is absolutely unique in the Telugu market.

Overall, the film is the sixth highest Indian opener at the worldwide box office after RRR, Baahubali 2, Kalki 2898 AD, Salaar: Part I and KGF: Chapter 2.

While Devara showed Jr NTR’s screen potential on the first day itself, Saturday and Sunday are likely to see a massive increase in business. It will be interesting to see how it performs from Monday, which will decide its real victory at the box office.

If the numbers drop drastically, it will be difficult for the film to survive at the ticket window for long. However, considering that the film has received a largely positive response, the decline in collections during weekdays should not impact its overall performance.
