Recently, Vidya Balan told in an event why she and her husband Siddharth Roy Kapoor live in a rented house. She mentioned that they went looking for a home, but ultimately decided on a rental place because of the comfort. During the event, the actress also elaborated on her reasons for choosing to live in a rented house, despite some objections.
At an event, the actress revealed that when she married filmmaker Siddharth Roy Kapur, she once went out looking for a house. “We looked at about 25 houses but could not agree on any,” he shared. Eventually, they found a home they both liked, but it was a rental – something she wasn’t comfortable with. “I always said, ‘I don’t want to live in a rented house.’
After struggling to find their ideal home, they revisited the same property and decided to rent it out. Explaining the reason behind this, the Kismat Connection actress said that it is rare to see a garden and a sea view in such a densely populated city. He joked that the arrangement worked out well for the couple, as their landlord was happy to “earn a bigger check” from the deal.
Vidya Balan expressed that finding the ideal home is determined by destiny, adding that one can feel a sense of ownership upon entering the home. Recalling her experience of house hunting with her mother about 15 years ago, she revealed that she was looking for a place close to her work in Bandra or Juhu to avoid the long journey to Chembur.
During her search, the actress found her ideal home, but it was over her budget. However, she remembered how her mother inspired her to focus on managing the EMIs, which ultimately led to the ease of purchasing. She mentioned that upon entering the house, it felt as if it was hers, which suggests that the acquisition was meant to be.
On the work front, Balan was last seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar alongside Pratik Gandhi, Elena D’Cruz, Senthil Ramamurthy. The romantic-comedy was released on April 19, 2024 and is now available for online streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
