Missing Ladies: Kareena Kapoor says ‘great stories deserve great recognition’, Kiran Rao-directed film selected for Oscars 2025

Ever since Kiran Rao’s film ‘Missing Ladies’ has been selected for Oscars 2025, the entire team has been showered with wishes and congratulatory messages. Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor also expressed her happiness and said, “Great stories should get great recognition.”

Today, on September 24, Kareena Kapoor shared the official post on her Instagram story announcing Kiran Rao’s film Missing Ladies as the official entry for Oscars 2025. The post featured Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goyal, Ravi Kishan and Sparsh Srivastava.

Giving a big thank you to the entire team, Bebo wrote, “Great stories deserve great recognition (with clap emoji) congratulations @roadyness @aamirkhanproductions so happy for you guys (with rainbow and red heart emojis) @pratibha_ranta @nitanshigoelofficial @shrivastavasparsh @ravikishann.”

The actress also added the song ‘Douthwa’ from the film in the background.

Kiran Rao shared a gratitude note on her Instagram handle a few hours after the official announcement.

“I am extremely honoured and delighted that our film Missing Ladies has been selected as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. This recognition is a testament to the tireless work of my entire team, whose dedication and passion brought this story to life. Cinema has always been a powerful medium to connect hearts, transcend boundaries and ignite meaningful conversations. I hope this film will resonate with audiences across the world, as it has in India,” reads a part of his long note.

Several Bollywood celebs also sent congratulatory messages to the team in the comments section as they took the first step towards bringing home the Oscar award.

Newlywed actress Aditi Rao Hydari dropped several red heart emojis, while Munjya star Sharvari wrote, “Many congratulations ma’am and a tight hug.” Actor-writer Piyush Mishra congratulated the team, while Karisma Kapoor congratulated her. Karan Johar, Prateik Babbar, Mona Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Radhika Apte, Dia Mirza and others also reacted to the post.

Missing Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao and backed by Aamir Khan’s Aamir Khan Productions, has been selected as India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Film category from a list of 29 films.
