Donald Trump helps a mother of 3 pay grocery bills, receives mixed reactions

A recent video of Republican Donald Trump on social media has generated mixed reactions. In the video, Trump is seen giving a Pennsylvania mother of three $100 to help with her grocery bill during a campaign stop on September 23. The former US president, who is running for president again, has also promised to reduce supermarket prices if elected in November.

Trump’s campaign team posted the video on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption, “President @realDonaldTrump helps mother of 3 shop for groceries.”

In the video, Trump is seen giving money to the woman and saying, “Look, its price is going to go down a little. Just now its price has gone down by Rs 100.”

The woman thanked Trump and laughed with others present. Trump then said, “We’ll do this for you from the White House, okay?” and praised her sons, calling them “beautiful” and “perfecto.”

Trump has repeatedly vowed that if he returns to the White House, he will address inflation and bring down the prices of everyday items like groceries and gas.

Trump supporters praised her actions in the comments, with some comparing her to Vice President Kamala Harris, while others were less impressed and called her move “fake” and disingenuous.

“This is more than anything Kamala has ever done to help any American,” wrote one user, while another said, “Comrade Kamala could never do this, Trump is real and authentic, Kamala is fake.” “He is my president!” said one user. “President Trump is the people’s president,” wrote another.

“Love Trump, he’s been doing this all his life without any cameras filming. There are so many people who say they read his story in the newspaper and so they sent him a check to pay off his house. He gave loans to minorities when all the banks refused, etc,” a third user wrote.

Another section of the internet called the gesture “fake.”

One user wrote, “Brought grandchildren to the rally and now giving money to voters…this is fraud! This won’t change anyone’s vote.”

Another added, “Wait, they said “we’ll do this for you to the White House” as if they were bribing someone for votes? Also, why did they feel the need to tape it for posting instead of doing it privately? I’m not impressed”.

“With 100 cameras this is so real,” one user quipped.
