In an interview Mandy Moore said, “There’s a reason I’m 40 now and I feel most comfortable with myself. Because there’s no substitute for the wisdom and clarity that come with age and time.”
Mandy Moore is already a mother to two boys; August Harrison was born on February 20, 2021, and her second son, Oscar Bennett Goldsmith, was born on October 21, 2022.
During the conversation, Mandy was asked, “You are currently expecting your third child, your first daughter. Has this pregnancy felt different from your previous pregnancies?” To this, she replied, “I am incredibly grateful for my body. It only feels different in the sense that I have two little ones to carry around with me. It is a little more tiring than the first two, but we are managing. I am almost there.”
Mandy further explained how she and her husband Taylor Goldsmith discussed the possibility of trying IVF for their third pregnancy, saying, "Prior to this pregnancy, my husband and I were talking about the possibility of a third pregnancy, and last summer, we tried one round of IVF that didn't produce any embryos. So, I said to him and to the universe, 'Well, this was our insurance plan and it didn't turn out the way we expected, and that's totally fine. So, if we decide we want another baby and it happens, great, and if it doesn't, I think we should both be at peace with that and we're incredibly blessed to have these two little boys in our family.'"

She explained how she conceived her third child naturally, “The universe just had its way, and this little girl came into our lives, and we're incredibly grateful for that, too. I went to the doctor after I got pregnant to make sure it was a viable pregnancy, and he said, 'Your egg count is too low.' Some women have a gradual decrease in egg count, and then some people just… fall down, they fall off a cliff. And he was like, 'You're the latter type, so this is your chance to have a third child.'"
She spoke about her IVF journey and how every couple's experience is different, saying, "Everyone's journey is a little different. I've seen a lot of my friends go through IVF journeys, and I thought, I'll follow them and be able to have this insurance policy so that if we decide to have a third child, I'll be able to do it whenever I want." Mandy further explained how she and her husband Taylor failed IVF but eventually conceived their daughter naturally, saying, "That didn't happen, but she decided to come another way, and we're really grateful. Even in that case, I was continuing to learn about my body and how it works, and the fact that I lucked out and found a good egg that month and that's why I'm here."

Mandy spoke about her experiences and challenges during her previous pregnancies and being expected to carry on with life as if nothing had happened. "There's no one in the world to support women at such a crucial time, and it can be a really lonely place to be," Moore said of the struggle to "come back" mentally after giving birth. "I remember being so upset after I gave birth to my first child, Gus, and I went back to work. Just the fact that people would say, 'How are you? How's everything going?' We mothers are just expected to say, 'Good. Everything's great. It's wonderful.' It's like, we're just expected to carry on", she said.
Mandy Moore's third pregnancy highlights just how fulfilling motherhood can be as you get older.
