Manoj Pahwa on meeting fans on flights: Who will interact if that happens?
Known for his versatile roles, Manoj Pahwa in a conversation with India Today Digital shared his release day ritual and the overwhelming response he received for his role in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.

Manoj Pahwa received a lot of love and appreciation for playing the witty negotiator in the Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. The versatile actor, who often plays interesting supporting roles, spoke about his release day ritual during a roundtable chat with India Today Digital.
When asked if he has any rituals on the release day of his film or series, Pahwa said, “I go out of the city, to the hills and valleys. Especially for IC814, because it was a lot of hard work for so many people. So it was difficult for me to handle it. And what will happen? Will people like it or not? So it is better to go out a little bit. But still, I would like to say that it released on August 29 and on the 30th I was coming back from Coimbatore to Mumbai. And I was surprised that we were in the queue during boarding. And there were two or three families behind me. And they said, Sir, you are in this flight, if you get hijacked, who will negotiate? Who will negotiate? I was surprised that it released yesterday and they had already seen it.”
Pahwa said actors often run away with the credit for things that are mostly a team effort. “There, any actor or any character that does it, there is a lot of hard work behind it. For example, in IC814, there is someone who has written a book on the subject. Then there is a team that has worked on the script. Then the director is the person who tells you what to do,” he said.
Pahwa concludes, “So, for an actor, there are a lot of things and a lot of support systems that go into creating a character. It’s a different matter if the actor takes all the credit.”
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, IC814: The Kandahar Hijack is currently streaming on Netflix.
