Actor and director Sohum Shah recently announced that Tumbbad 2 is the first film to be re-released in theatres. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, the actor outlined the significance of the film’s story and how it is different from other horror films like Stree and Munjya, which are based on folklore.

When asked if it will be easy to make Tumbbad 2 when the audience is already appreciating Maddock’s horror-comedy world, which is made on the same lines, Sohum said that ‘there is a difference.’ He said, “I don’t think it is a problem. Those films are different. None of them is like Tumbbad. There is a lot of difference in these stories.”

Soham said that Tumbbad is the only film which is based on the idea of ​​’.Grandma’s stories“They are not doing that,” he said. Grandma’s storiesOur story is not based in modern times. Our film begins and ends in that period. We have a DemonA monster. They’re not dealing with elements like that.”

The actor also expressed his gratitude to the audience for the love and support they showered on Tumbbad’s re-release. The film is doing great business at the box office and this is a big boost for Sohum to start Tumbbad 2.
He announced the film a few days ago with a brief teaser.

In the interview, Sohum, who is also the producer of Tumbbad, said, “The kind of love and support you guys have given to Tumbbad, I think it will be easier to make Tumbbad 2 now. We are still in the pre-production process and locking the script. Once that is done, we will look for the right kind of support.”

Tumbbad is based on a Maharashtrian folk-tale. The film was shot in the state, in real locations. It was shelved and delayed multiple times. Even the script was rewritten multiple times before Sohum and Anand L Rai produced it.
