Indian restaurants are making a splash on the global food scene, proving that their talents go far beyond Indian cuisine. They are blending local traditions with international flavours, showing that they can easily compete with the best restaurants in the world. Recently, Pizzeria Da Sussi in Gurgaon earned the 86th spot in the 100 Best Pizzerias for 2024. The list was presented by Italy-based media organisation, 50 Top Pizzas, at an awards ceremony held in Naples on September 4, 2024. Reportedly, each pizzeria undergoes an extensive review to make it to the list. Around 1,000 inspectors evaluate each pizzeria anonymously, assessing the quality of food, service, wine selection, décor, and ambiance.

Chef Susanna Di Cosimo, who leads the kitchen at Pizzeria da Susi, emphasizes her commitment to making traditional pizzas. “We use gas and wood-fired ovens, and our dough is made from imported Molino Caputo flour, which undergoes a slow fermentation process at controlled temperatures,” explains Chef Susi. Pizzeria da Susi’s menu features a wide range of pizzas – from classics like the Margherita and Quattro Formaggi to unique creations like spinach, pumpkin sauce, smoked salmon, beetroot, nuts and ‘nduja.
However, this is not the first time that Da Suci has gained recognition for its pizza. Back in March, the Gurugram-based establishment ranked 13th in the 50 Best Pizzerias in Asia Pacific for 2024. At the time, the official website of the ranking page wrote, “Today the place offers a true glimpse of the gastronomic tradition of Naples. On the menu, you will find some appetizers and pizzas of good quality. There is a selection of toppings ranging from classic to a little more creative.”

For the global pizzeria ranking, first place went to Una Pizza Napoletana, based in New York, USA. Second place went to Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria and I Masanelli – Francesco Martucci, both based in Naples. And third place went to The Pizza Bar, established in Tokyo, at 38th place.
