Malaika Arora, her younger sister Amrita Arora, her mother Joyce Arora and other family members are going through a tough time right now. This morning, they were shocked to hear the news of their father Anil Mehta’s sudden demise. In a statement, Joyce explained how she realised something was wrong when she saw a commotion in her building.
In her statement to the police, Joyce revealed that she and her late husband Anil Mehta were living together for the past few years even though they were divorced. She was alone with Anil at the time of the incident. Elaborating further on the tragedy, she said that her ex-husband used to sit in the balcony and read the newspaper every morning, reports News18.
However, when she found his slippers in the living room on September 11, she went to the balcony to look for him but couldn’t find him there. When she heard noises from the building, Malaika Arora’s mother saw the watchman calling for help. That’s when she realised something was very wrong. Joyce further said that Anil did not have any major illness or health problem except knee pain.
The team investigating the case has suspected a case of suicide. According to ANI, DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roshan said, “The body of Anil Mehta (62) has been found. He lived on the 6th floor. We are investigating further and our team is at the spot. We are thoroughly investigating all aspects. The forensic team is also present… The body is being taken for post-mortem. Prima facie, it looks like a case of suicide, but we are continuing our investigation in detail.”

A while ago, Malaika Arora shared an official statement on social media informing her fans and followers about this tragic incident. In her note, the actress and model wrote that her family is in deep shock with this loss. In her emotional note, she also requested privacy for the media and her well-wishers.
Their post read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is deeply shocked by this loss, and we request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect. Thank you to Joyce, Malaika, Amrita, Shakeel, Arhaan, Azaan, Ryan, Casper Axel, Duffy, and Buddy.”

Malaika and Amrita rushed to their Bandra home after receiving the news of their father’s demise. Soon after, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Chunky Panday, Ananya Panday, Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, her parents Salim Khan, Salma Khan and Helen along with Sohail Khan, Arhaan Khan, Nirvana Khan, Kajol and many other celebs rushed to their home to offer their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The last rites of the departed soul will be performed on September 12 at 11 am at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium, Mumbai.
