Sonos Ace specifications and features
The Sonos Ace headphones mark the company’s entry into the personal listening space. Sonos says its headphones are designed to deliver high-quality sound and comfort. These over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones feature two custom-designed drivers that deliver clear and accurate audio across all frequencies. Whether listening to music, podcasts, or on calls, the Ace aims to deliver a detailed and immersive listening experience.
The Sonos Ace also has the ability to turn private listening into a personal cinema experience. The headphones feature spatial audio support, including Dolby Atmos, which provides a surround sound effect. This feature is further enhanced by dynamic head tracking, which ensures that the sound remains focused and consistent even when you’re moving around.
Sonos also revealed that its Ace headphones can switch audio from a compatible Sonos soundbar to the headphones with the press of a button, which is convenient for users who want to enjoy a quiet, personal listening experience without disturbing others in the house. Additionally, Sonos plans to introduce its new TruCinema technology later this year. This feature will allow users to map their space and create an immersive surround sound system, further enhancing the home theater experience.
Meanwhile, the Sonos Ace is equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to block out external noise. Battery life is said to be another strong point of the Sonos Ace, with the company promising up to 30 hours of listening or talking time on a full charge. Additionally, the headphones feature ultra-fast charging; a 3-minute quick charge using the included USB-C cable provides up to 3 hours of playback.
Design-wise, the Sonos Ace features a slim profile with metal accents and a matte finish. The headband and ear cups are made of pillowy soft memory foam wrapped in vegan leather, providing a comfortable fit without getting caught in hair. The headphones also feature intuitive controls and colour-coded ear cups that guide the user on the correct way to wear them.
Sonos also pointed out that its new Sonos Ace is built with sustainability in mind. The Ace is designed with replaceable ear cushions and uses 17 percent less virgin plastic for improved durability and environmental responsibility. The headphones also feature wear detection technology that automatically pauses audio when the headphones are removed, saving battery life and further increasing energy efficiency.
Speaking about the first headphones, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence said, “The Sonos Ace leverages everything we’ve learned over two decades as an audio leader to bring great sound, attractive design and long-lasting comfort to one of the biggest and most popular audio categories worldwide.”
