Veteran actor Bobby Deol, best known for his stellar roles in Bollywood in the 90s and early 2000s, recently opened up about his difficult battle with alcohol addiction, shedding light on a painful chapter in his life. Humans of BombayBobby revealed how his addiction affected not only him but also his family, leaving them desperate and helpless.

Recalling his lowest point, Bobby explained how his loved ones felt a deep sadness watching him struggle. “It feels like you’re drowning,” he said, explaining the feeling of being trapped in alcohol addiction. “Everyone feels weak, everyone feels like they can’t… it’s so difficult… that you can’t get out of it. It feels like you’re drowning and people let themselves drown. I think everyone can get out of it.”

Deol’s addiction took a toll on his family, who tried their best to support him during this time. He recalled the sadness in their eyes as they watched him decline. “For me, everyone around me in my house was very concerned about me. They would keep encouraging me. But when I was torturing myself, there was a lot of sadness in their eyes,” Bobby revealed, highlighting the emotional weight his addiction had on those closest to him.

However, despite the pain, Bobby stressed the importance of self-belief in overcoming addiction. He said, “You can sit back and regret every mistake you made. But how do you learn from your mistakes? You had to go through all that, and you had to come out of it. Nobody can hold your hand. I can’t tell my fans how to get out of that phase because they all know how to get out of that phase. You just have to believe in yourself.”

Talking about work, Bobby was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal, in which he was accompanied by Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Anil Kapoor. He will next be seen in the Tamil film Kanguva opposite Surya. The actor will also be seen in Krish’s Telugu film Hari Hara Veera Mallu and NBK 109.
