Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana have been trending online lately. In August, the actor revealed during a media event at the 77th Locarno Film Festival that he is collaborating on an action film directed by Sujoy Ghosh. More recently, reports have emerged that indicate the father-daughter duo is preparing to begin filming in January 2025.

A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama that since the makers want to shoot the film in Europe in the special weather conditions, they intend to bring King on the floors in January next year. Having said that, Shah Rukh Khan “wants to make King a spectacle for the big screen”. Hence, he is working hard with director Sujoy Ghosh and producer Siddharth Anand to “get the script and action sequences right”.

The informer also told the publication that the upcoming action-thriller will be a full-length two-character film, played by Shah Rukh and Suhana. Along with them, Abhishek Bachchan will also be seen in the role of the villain. “Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are looking to bring King by mid-2026,” the source said. For those who don’t know, the film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Sid’s Marflix. While Shah Rukh will lead the show, the Archies actress will play his disciple to fight Junior Bachchan.

Apart from him, reports also suggested that actor Abhay Verma is also a part of the stellar cast. According to sources close to the development, the team of King has roped in the Munjya fame to play an important catalyst in the action-packed thriller. A close source told Pinkvilla that he has bagged a pivotal role in King alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan. “He is excited to work in this tentpole feature film,” the source added. Soon after we broke the news, Verma indirectly confirmed the speculation on his social media.

A few months ago, Pinkvilla was the first to report that composer and playback singer Anirudh Ravichander will be working with Shah Rukh Khan again after Jawaan. “King is a one-of-its-kind action thriller that will offer the audience a new flavour of action. Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh understand the importance of BGM for a film in this genre and have roped in the best in the business – Anirudh,” we were told.

We also learnt that the pre-production work for King has already begun and the makers are aiming to announce it through a proper video asset. Additionally, Anirudh is already working on the theme music of the film. Ravichander made his debut as a solo composer in Bollywood with Atlee Kumar’s Jawaan.

Speaking at the 77th Locarno Film Festival held this year, the Pathan actor officially announced being a part of the film. “The next film I am doing is King. I have to start working on it, lose some weight, stretch a bit so that my back doesn’t strain while doing action,” he said in a viral video.

At the event, Khan also said that he had been thinking about it for 6-7 years. When he told Ghosh that he wanted to do something that was more age-centric, the filmmaker suggested the subject to him. Apart from King, the megastar is also reportedly in discussions with Aditya Chopra for Pathan 2.
