Dil Bechara will always be remembered for celebrating the legacy of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The tragic romance is treasured for its dialogues. While many dialogues made us cry our hearts out, some also made us laugh. Also starring Sanjana Sanghi in her first lead role, Dil Bechara was released posthumously after the sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra made his directorial debut with the 2020 film.

Sushant Singh Rajput said this powerful line in the voiceover. After Sushant’s demise, the audience felt even more connected to it. Wasn’t he right?
2. You don’t seem safe, you seem like a serial killer type.
This dialogue is from the first meeting of Manny and Kizie when he asks her to drop him on his bike.
3. I’m a serial killer, you’re a serial kisser…what a pair!
The dialogue comes when Kizie calls SSR’s character a “serial killer” while flirting with him.
4. You are important to my heart. It beats faster whenever you come close.
Kizie, who is battling thyroid cancer and carries an oxygen cylinder with her, utters this line to Manny after she falls in love with him.
5. Today’s artists are like this, they start work and never finish it.
This scene is from the scene where after listening to singer Abhimanyu’s song, Manny asks Kizie the answer to ‘Main Tumhara…’. Manny says this when Kizie tells him that the singer has left the song incomplete.

In the doctor’s session, Kizie said that you don’t need to be popular to become a hero, there are heroes in real life too. This came after Manny said that he wants to be like Rajinikanth.

He kept on joking about everything, kept on laughing and taught me how to live. And slowly he became the reason for my living. Just like he entered, he exited one day and left me alone again.
It is an emotional scene where Kizie gives her farewell speech to Manny and they both break down in tears.

Sushant as Manny spoke this dialogue when his character died and Kizie read his letter. In the voiceover scene, Manny shared his version of a childhood story ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’.

Manny, who is deeply in love with Kizie, expresses his feelings when Kizie begins to ignore him.

In an introductory voiceover scene, Kizie tells the audience this after revealing her illness.
Dil Bechara also featured Swastika Mukherjee and Saswata Chatterjee. Sushant Singh Rajput played Emmanuel Rajkumar Jr., a cancer patient with osteosarcoma. Sanjana Sanghi was cast as Kizie Basu, a thyroid cancer patient.
Based on John Green’s 2012 novel, The Fault in Our Stars, the story of Dil Bechara revolves around a couple, Manny and Kizie, who are suffering from a terminal illness. They both fall in love with each other. The film, starring SSR, was shot in Jamshedpur and Paris.
While battling with illnesses, Manny and his friend Jagdish Pandey make a Bhojpuri film named ‘Rajnikanth Aavat Hai, Sapne Jagavat Hai’.
Earlier this year, Mukesh Chhabra teased netizens with a tweet that read, “Dil Bechara 2.” Later, Chhabra clarified that he was initially planning to make a second part; however, the director soon realised that he would not be able to touch the film.
In an interview with News18 Showsha, the filmmaker clarified, “I tweeted about it because I was actually planning to make Dil Bechara 2.” Chhabra called Dil Bechara a “special film” because there were a lot of emotions attached to it given the fact that it was Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film.
The director said he realised he shouldn’t have touched the film. It was an adaptation of the 2014 Hollywood film The Fault in Our Stars.
