Preity Zinta is not just a famous Bollywood star but also a mother of two beautiful kids. Happily married to Gene Goodenough, Preity welcomed her kids Jiya and Jai via surrogacy. Recently, the actress revealed that she opted for IVF and said that during the tough phase, she felt like her head was banging against the wall.

In a recent conversation with Vogue, Preity Zinta reflected on the challenges she faced during the IVF period, and emphasised on how emotionally challenging it was for her. The Lahore 1947 actress began by admitting that it is important for one to focus on their career, but one must also realise that life is not as fair as we expect. She highlighted the biological clock and said that there are not equal opportunities for everyone.

She said, “People forget that for women, as actors, their talent is important, they need work, but family is equally important.” The actress, who is all set to return to the silver screen, felt she was ready for it as her children are now two years old.

Talking about the struggles in her personal life, the 49-year-old actress admitted that like everyone else, she too has her good and bad days. She admitted that staying cheerful can also be a struggle at times, especially when one is going through a tough phase.

She added, “I used to feel like this during my IVF cycles. It was very difficult to smile all the time and be nice. Sometimes I just wanted to bang my head against the wall and cry or not talk to anyone. So yes, it is a balancing act for all actors.”

Preity Zinta married US-based financial analyst Gene Goodenough in a private ceremony in 2016. They welcomed twins via surrogacy in 2021, whom they named Jiya and Jai.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Preity will soon be making a comeback on the silver screen with Lahore 1947 opposite Sunny Deol. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and backed by Aamir Khan, the film was officially announced in October last year. It will also star Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol in key roles.
