Mirzapur is one of the most popular series on OTT these days. The series stars star actors like Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Tripathi and Rasika Dugal in lead roles. Other important cast members include Divyendu, Isha Talwar, Vikrant Massey, Vijay Verma, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and many others. Neha Sargam, who played Saloni Bhabhi in the second and third seasons, recently recalled how the actress’s parents reacted to her role in the Mirzapur series. Neha shared that her parents wanted the actress to do clean roles.
During the latest episode of the podcast Digital Commentary, Neha Sargam reminisced about telling her parents that she had got a role in Mirzapur. Neha shared that when the actress had to sign Mirzapur-Season 2, she had already watched the first season. The actress recalled how she told her mom and dad about her role in the series.
Neha Sargam recalled meeting co-director Gurmeet Singh and co-producer Puneet Krishna before signing Mirzapur. Neha recalled that they sat together and later briefed her about the role. The producers told the actress that her character would be “better” in the third season.
He said, “I said, ‘Sir, I have a request, my parents have told me to do clean work, son’. And he laughed…”
Recalling that time, Neha Sargam said that she decided to do a “clean job” in the second season after being persuaded to play a clean role in the second season. The actress said that the makers acted “smartly” as they did not discuss with her about what happened in the third season.
In the same interview, Neha Sargam spoke about her apprehensions about doing intimate scenes in Mirzapur season 3. She recalled meeting director Gurmeet at his office for the role. The actress recalled that she went into a “coma”-like state when she found out that she had to perform intimate scenes. Neha recalled that she was unsure about the role and wondered if the producers were listening to themselves.
Neha Sargam was paired opposite Vijay Verma in the second and third seasons of Mirzapur. Vijay played the dual roles of twin brothers, Bharat Tyagi and Shatrughan Tyagi. Neha was cast as Bharat’s wife in the series.
