Ayushmann Khurrana is one of the most versatile and talented actors in the industry and time and again, the actor has proven his worth with brilliant roles. Khurrana recently said that he is not an activist and that people expecting actors to stand up and share their opinions is ‘very naive’. The actor often plays roles that reflect social issues and also expresses his views through his music and poetry.
Recently, the Dream Girl 2 actor attended an event in Delhi, the 39-year-old actor spoke about the role of an artist in society and his position on activism. “I am not an activist, I am an actor and an artist. Whatever I have to say, I say it through my poetry, music or films. It is quite naive to expect an actor or artist to constantly express their opinions”, he said, as emotional intelligence (EQ) often plays a bigger role than intellectual intelligence (IQ) in their professional lives.
The Dream Girl actor said, “We deal with emotions, we sell emotions, we create emotions and that is our main job. But at the same time I try to do my best as a socially responsible leader.” As an actor, he has created a distinct identity for himself by tackling several social and taboo subjects through his films like Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Savdhan or Bala.
The actor revealed that he started his career in theatre, where he focused on themes or social issues that were not explored before. He revealed that as an outsider, he had to take unconventional paths to stand out, approaching new subjects and aiming to create something that was both unique and engaging. He acknowledged that this was a significant challenge. He also said that taking risks was important for him, adding that with each story he aimed to create something different and unprecedented in Indian cinema.
In an old interview, he mentioned that success is a bad teacher, while failures serve as friends, philosophers, and guides. He believed that if one has not faced failures in the beginning, it can be challenging for him to deal with them later in life, considering how life progresses.
The Vicky Donor actor admitted that after his debut film, he had three flops (Nautanki Saala, Bewakoofiyaan and Hawaizaada) because he was only being offered such roles. He revealed that although he had a certain standard for the type of films he wanted to do, there were no opportunities that matched his aspirations at that time. It was only after Dum Laga Ke Haisha that he had eight consecutive hits.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Khurana was last seen in Dream Girl 2 alongside Ananya Panday. The romantic comedy received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. Next, he has Vampires of Vijay Nagar in the pipeline.
