2024 is an exciting year for Rajkummar Rao, with several of his films lined up for release. Now, on the special occasion of his 40th birthday, he has announced a new film to fans. Rajkummar has shared the first-look poster of Maalik, in which he is seen looking at the audience. It is guaranteed to get everyone excited and we would definitely agree with his wife Patralekha’s reaction.
Today, on August 31, 2024, Rajkummar Rao released the official announcement poster of his new film Malik on Instagram. In this intense picture, the actor is wearing a white shirt and pants. He is standing on top of a jeep with a gun in his hand and a fierce expression on his face. The poster also shows the tagline along with the title of the film. It reads, “Paida Nahi Hue To Kya, Ban To Sakte Hain.”
In the caption, Rajkummar revealed that the shooting of the film has begun. He said, “Welcome to the world of #Malik. Goli shuru hoo chuki hai, shil shil mulakaat hogi! (Welcome to the world of #Malik. The shooting has begun, we will meet soon).”

Rajkummar’s wife Patralekhaa expressed her happiness over the new film. In the comments section of the post, she wrote, “Jee Baat” with a fire emoji. Fans also expressed their happiness. One person said, “Gifted us on his birthday!!!” and another wrote, “The man is on a mission to never stop giving blockbuster movies.”
One user wrote, “Rajkummar Rao in action,” while another called him “unstoppable RKR.” Many others displayed their emotions with red heart and fire emojis, with fans also wishing Rajkummar a happy birthday.
Maalik is directed by Pulkit, who directed the Bhumi Pednekar starrer Bhakshak earlier this year. Backed by Tips Films and Northern Lights Films, the film is produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani.
In early August, Pinkvilla was the first to report about Rajkummar Rao’s collaboration with director Pulkit. A source close to the development revealed, “Rajkummar Rao has given the green signal to Pulkit’s next film, which will be produced by Jay Shewakramani. The plot details are under wraps for now, however, the makers are set to take the film on the floors in 2024 with a marathon schedule. Rajkummar Rao is excited about this collaboration and it will be a break from the comic space for him.”
We also reported that former Miss World Manushi Chillar has been cast in the lead role. The source said, “The makers were looking for new casting and the pairing of Rajkummar and Manushi brings something new. The duo will have an interesting pairing in the film.” The film will be shot in India and will release in theatres in 2025.
Later, Pinkvilla also shared details about Rajkummar’s character in the film. A source revealed, “It is an out-and-out commercial entertainer with Rajkummar Rao playing a gangster. The makers have planned to shoot the film extensively in Uttar Pradesh followed by a portion in Mumbai as the entire story and character is based in UP. Rajkummar is excited to play the character and will be doing some readings and workshops with the team.”
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is currently enjoying the success of his horror comedy Stree 2. His next release will be Vicky Vidya’s Woh Wala Video.
