In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power S2 showrunner JD Penn has revealed exciting details about the dynamics between the Harfoots and other races this season. As the second season takes its most epic characters to the height of darkness and challenges in a world on the brink of destruction, fans are left curious.
When asked if there was going to be any changes to the dynamics between the Harfoots and the other races, J.D. Penn told us, “Yes. Our long-term picture is that people know who the Hobbits were in the Third Age, we wanted to look at how the Hobbits came into being.”
He elaborated on Tolkien’s ideas. There are three breeds of hobbits, The Harfoots, Storrs, and Fallohides who appear in The Rings of Power, and how each of these groups will change as this season’s plot progresses.
Explaining, Penn said, “I think as we go along, each of those groups will change and, you know, eventually we’ll see how the hobbits we know from the Third Age actually came into being.”
