Aamir Khan took charge of the failure of his 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha and even threw a party celebrating the hard work of his team. Now that the Aamir Khan star is gearing up for Zameen Par, the 59-year-old actor called it a “fantastic” film and also revealed how Ira Khan and Junaid Khan stopped him from quitting acting.
In the latest podcast Chapter 2 with Rhea Chakraborty on YouTube, Aamir Khan shared that it is important to understand the reason behind your failure and he is honest about his mistake that the film Laal Singh Chaddha did not work. The superstar then spoke about improving himself and how he started working on Sitare Zameen Par while staying positive towards his work.
“When I started Sitare Zameen Par, there was no mood…and Sitare is just complete. Sitare mein bahut mazaa aaya kaam karke. Bahut kamal ki film hai ( Sitare Zameen Par is now complete. I loved working in the film. It’s a great film.” he said.
Aamir Khan said that he had initially decided to quit films and Sitare Zameen Par is his first film after quitting Bollywood. The Laal Singh Chaddha actor shared that he was planning to shoot for RS Prasanna’s directorial Sitare Zameen Par. However, Aamir wanted to inform the filmmaker that he was quitting films and would have to work with another actor later.
The 59-year-old superstar further added that he did not want to announce his retirement publicly as he believed it would lead to a lot of drama. Aamir recalled that he had called Prasanna to his residence at 3:00 pm and before that, he sat with his children, daughter, theatre director Ira Khan and actor Junaid Khan.
Ira made a chart on the whiteboard on how her father Aamir would invest his time in the future. While the superstar wanted to spend some time with Ira and Junaid, he suggested to her that his father has spent enough time with them. Recalling what Junaid told him, Aamir shared that his son called him a “pendulum” and advised him to maintain balance. Both Junaid and Ira suggested that he doesn’t need to quit acting and that the actor is making a mistake.
Aamir is reuniting with Darsheel Safary in Taare Zameen Par. The two had worked together in Taare Zameen Par in 2007. The upcoming film also stars Genelia D’Souza.
