Malayalam actor Renji Panicker has reacted to the harassment allegations against filmmaker Ranjith and actor Siddique, saying that it is “impossible to oust them from the film industry” without proper evidence. Both of them have resigned from their respective positions in their organisations following the harassment allegations.
Renji Panikar has given his reaction on the controversy involving Malayalam actor Siddique and filmmaker Ranjith. Speaking to the media, Panikar said that he hopes that the government-appointed committee will take appropriate steps to deal with the situation.
The actor also pointed out that despite the serious allegations against Ranjith and Siddique, they have not yet been proven guilty. “Their creativity cannot be suppressed, and it is impossible to oust them from the film industry without concrete evidence,” he said. Panicker said that taking such a step would not be in line with the principles of civilised society.
On August 25, Malayalam actor Siddique resigned from the post of general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following allegations of sexual harassment by a female actor. On the same day, filmmaker Ranjith resigned from the post of chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy amid allegations of harassment by Bengali actor Sreelekha Mitra. However, he denied the allegations after his resignation.
