Prince William and Prince Harry have been at loggerheads ever since the latter stepped down from his royal duties in 2020. Over the years, royal experts have claimed that neither side has made efforts to iron out the differences, and so the rift has grown.
According to sources close to the royal family, the Prince of Wales has made it clear that he has suffered a huge betrayal and would not want to meet his younger brother except at King Charles’ funeral.
Speaking to the Daily Beast, one of the experts claimed that Prince Harry might not even be invited to the future king’s coronation ceremony. Prince William’s friend, who also spoke to the publication, revealed, “It’s hard to overstate how betrayed and hurt William is feeling on a personal level. The two brothers were so close growing up that they would finish each other’s lines.”
The source said that in the past, the two brothers supported each other during palace controversies. In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry has spoken openly about his bond with the Duke of Cornwall. The former royal member also explained why he left the palace.
Prince William’s friend revealed he was disappointed when the young prince decided to abdicate the throne, but added, “Reading Harry’s book, I was really surprised at how honest he was about the depth and importance of his relationship with William when they were young.”
The source added: “This makes his decision to sell out his entire family, especially William, for a huge sum of money all the more incomprehensible.”
The insider also claimed, “Why would William and Kate want all the distraction and spectacle their presence causes? I suspect William will only see Harry one more time in his life — at his father’s funeral.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last met the Prince and Princess of Wales on the day of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal palace in 2020 after Markle claimed she faced prejudice and racism behind closed doors. The actress also spoke about this in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, leading to chaos among the former royals and other members of the palace.
