Vidhu Vinod Chopra on his daughter’s bipolar disorder: My job was to relieve her stress
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently opened up about his daughter Isha battling bipolar disorder and said he was ‘shocked’ when he first learnt that she was unwell, but soon realised that his job was to ‘take her stress away’.

Producer and director Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently spoke about his daughter Isha’s bipolar disorder and said that he was shocked when he first found out about her condition, but with the help of a family doctor, he realised that his job was to relieve her stress.
Speaking to Times of India, Chopra said, “When I first heard that she was unwell, I was shocked. Our family doctor was the first person I called. I am very grateful to him. He has played a vital role in my daughter’s upbringing. He diagnosed her with bipolar disorder and that’s when I first came to know about bipolar disorder. Thanks to his guidance, I understood that it is just like any other condition and we need to fight it together as a family.”

He said, “My job was to relieve his stress. This is the first thing a caregiver or family should do. The family has to remove the poison from the mind of the suffering family member, he has to suffer and endure it.”
Isha has written a memoir about her struggles, titled ‘Finding Order in Chaos’.
