Actor Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘GOAT’ is making a lot of buzz on social media. The film’s director Venkat Prabhu has now spoken about Vijay’s plans to stay away from films after entering politics. At the film’s trailer launch event, he recalled the time when he had the same discussion with the Tamil superstar and how he reacted to it.

Venkat, who has cast Vijay in a double role in ‘The Greatest of All Time’, revealed that he had spoken to the actor about his final decision to quit the industry. The director said that Vijay simply smiled and did not give any clarity. He told the media at the event: “Like everyone present here and Vijay’s fans, I too want to see him in more films. In fact, I asked him if he could balance both, and he simply smiled and said, ‘We will see’. It has always been our dream to see him on screen. But he too has a dream. An aspiration. And I think we should support it.”

The director also said that he has not used any dialogue or narrative in ‘GOAT’ to push Vijay’s political agenda. When a media person asked him about the inclusion of the song ‘Marudhamalai Mamaniya’ and its political connotations, Venkat dismissed the idea of any political references in the film. He said that the song is taken from Vijay’s film ‘Ghilli’ and it is not political in any sense.

He said that Vijay never asked him to incorporate his political ideologies through the film. Venkat described ‘GOAT’ as a completely commercial entertainer. He said that some dialogues may seem political in nature, but everything is well connected with the story of the film.

He said, “Vijay sir has never done that. He never wanted any line to be written to push his political agenda. GOAT is a commercial film, not a political film. Of course, some dialogues in the trailer might hint at his political career. But when you watch the film, you will realise how all of them actually fit in perfectly with the narrative. There are no political references in GOAT. Vijay sir sees a film as a film, and most importantly, he knows my knowledge about politics. We never discuss politics.”

‘GOAT’ is Vijay’s last second film before he completely immerses himself in his political journey. The actor launched his political party ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ in February this year. Earlier this month, director H Vinoth announced at an awards function that he will direct the last film of Vijay’s career. He said the actor will act in his 69th film and bid goodbye to his cinematic journey.

Meanwhile, ‘Goat’, which also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chowdhary and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles, is set to release on September 5.
