‘Working on my sprint’: Glen Powell says he’s ‘extremely excited’ to star in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man remake

Must read

Glen Powell is so excited to be the Running Man that he’s been practicing his “sprints” to prepare for the role. Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the film is a remake of the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. More than the role, Powell – who recently starred in the blockbuster action-thriller Twisters – is excited to be working with the legendary filmmaker!

While promoting his Audible original podcast The Best Man’s Ghostwriter, the Anyone But You actor spoke to Screen Rant about The Running Man remake. “I’m running a lot. That’s all I can say. I’m working on my running,” he laughed.

Beyond the humor, Powell revealed that Wright is one of his “favorite filmmakers ever since I can remember.” The actor has been a fan of his work since Shaun of the Dead and “can’t wait” to work with him. “He’s always creating amazing things that only his mind can create,” Powell said.

The Twisters actor continued to talk about his upcoming film, calling it the director’s passion project. Based on Stephen King’s novel, the film is legendary in its own right, but with Wright’s fun extra flavor, it’s a complete package.

Since his breakout role in Top Gun: Maverick, Powell has become one of the most sought-after actors and his recent success at the box office has contributed to this. Twisters has so far grossed $311 at the global box office. In the standalone sequel to the 1996 film, meteorologist Kate Cooper (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) chases tornadoes to test a new technology for predicting storms.

While storm chasing she meets Tyler Owens from Powell who is a YouTuber and whose taste in storm chasing is a little unprofessional. However, an impending doom forces this unlikely pair to come together to save themselves and the citizens.
