Chiyaan Vikram’s‘Cobra’ received negative reviews Two years after the film’s release, the director revealed what happened behind the scenes.
He said, “I went to producer Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studios with a script. Initially, it was rejected. Then, I went to another writer and came up with a script, which was again rejected. There came a time when the producer came to me with a script. I was not convinced. I felt there were some mistakes in the main line of the story. We can change the screenplay, but we cannot change the original. I was hesitant.”
“But by that time, we had already worked for eight months. We had barely four months left for the shoot. While we were in a dilemma whether to do it or not, the producers were persistent in agreeing to do it. They were very sure that they wanted to work on the script. There were some issues between my team and me,” he said.
Ajay then said, “Eventually, everyone else liked that script. Then we thought we could look at it from a different perspective. We thought we could fix it because many other people also liked the script. We can’t stay isolated. So, we took someone else’s one-liner and wrote screenplay for the screenplay. We could have changed anything except the one-liner. That one-liner turned out to be the most expensive mistake. It’s been two years and I never wanted to say this anywhere. But, it’s the most expensive mistake. I shouldn’t have done that story.”
