Flux.1 is a new AI-powered image generator that is creating a lot of buzz on X. The latest images created using Flux.1 are making the rounds on social media. These posts show hyper-realistic human images and videos created with the help of Flux.1. But image-generation is nothing new. OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta and many other AI-focused companies have been doing it for quite some time now. So, what’s the buzz about? Flux.1 is being praised for its impressive depiction of human physical traits including skin, hair and wrinkles. This shows that the new platform is overcoming the regular mistake of other AI-image generators that sometimes create confusion to create unusual traits.

Leaving aside the previous online images, the images generated by FLUX.1 mark a milestone, demonstrating AI’s ability to create hyper-realistic fake people without any obvious flaws. This not only shows the rapid advancement of AI technology but also its increasing accessibility, as FLUX.1 is an open-source model, making it possible for more people to use its capabilities.

It is also worth mentioning that the viral FLUX.1-generated photos were not just created by the AI model itself but also went through a refinement process using Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) technology, which fine-tunes and optimizes the output of large language models, resulting in even more believable and refined images.

To know what all this hype was about, we also generated some images and the results were undoubtedly impressive. The image-to-text prompts are similar to any other AI-powered generator. It seems that Flux.1 has learned from its competitors and worked on the flaws. Check out the images here.

Flux.1 and its creators

FLUX.1, launched on August 1, is offered in three different versions to meet different user needs. The ‘Pro’ version is designed for professional applications, offering advanced features. For non-commercial use, the ‘Dev’ version is available with open weights. Additionally, there is ‘Schnell’ (German for ‘fast’ or ‘quick’), a faster version of FLUX.1 with open weights, providing users with a more efficient experience.

FLUX.1 is built by Black Forest Labs, an AI startup founded by a group of AI researchers and engineers, some of whom previously held key positions at Stability AI.

FLUX.1 appears to have overcome a long-standing challenge in AI-generated images, leading to success in creating realistic human hands and feet. Previously, AI models struggled to accurately render human limbs due to limitations in their training data, but the advancements in FLUX.1 have helped bridge this gap, producing more realistic and detailed images.

Currently, FLUX.1 is available through a limited number of platforms and tools, including Replicate, (link not available) and Hugging Face, which provide AI cloud hosting services. These platforms use a pay-per-generation model, allowing users to access FLUX.1’s capabilities on a transaction-by-transaction basis, with more widespread availability potentially coming.
