We are close to the iPhone 16 series launch event and leaks for the next generation iPhones are also appearing online as Apple has possibly started working on the 2025 models. The company is said to be planning to bring a new model in the iPhone 17 series next year. A Bloomberg report claims that the iPhone 17 Air model could be announced in the coming year, replacing the current Plus model. This suggests that this year’s iPhone 16 Plus could be Apple’s last Plus version.

It will be very interesting to see the entry of a new model in Apple’s iPhone series as this is not happening for the first time. In 2020, the company introduced the Mini version to give people a compact version and a better option than the SE model at a lower price than the standard model. But Apple did not get a good response to this device and later reintroduced the Plus model which it used to offer to users years ago.

The Plus entered the iPhone 14 series after Apple discontinued its mini version. However, reports suggest that Apple is not getting enough sales even for the Plus as people are sticking to either the regular or Pro model depending on the price. Hence, it is now being reported that a new Air model will arrive in 2025 along with the iPhone 17 series.

The Air model is expected to come with a very slim design, which will be one of its major selling points. According to the report, it will also be positioned between the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro smartphones. The cited source says that the Air model of the iPhone 17 could give Apple a much better return than the Mini and Plus versions.

“The selling point will likely be something like this: If you want something more attractive than the standard iPhone — but don’t really need the performance, screen size or camera of the Pro model — you can get something that looks more attractive and also has the specs of the regular iPhone,” the report says.

Leaks this year have revealed that the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will arrive in September 2024. Although Apple is yet to announce the launch date of the iPhone 16 series, rumours claim that the new device will launch on September 10. We will get a better idea about this in the coming days.
