The actress-filmmaker duo shared their excitement saying that they are thrilled to be a part of the discussion ahead of the event.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Rani Mukerji said that she is proud to represent the Indian film industry in the Australian Parliament. Mukerji shared that it is an “honour” for her to discuss the growing cultural ties between Australia and India through cinema.

The 46-year-old actress said Indian cinema is at the forefront of shaping pop culture across the world as many actors and films are gaining global recognition these days.

Mukerji, known for films like Mardaani and Bunty Aur Babli, further said that Indian cinema offers a variety of emotions to the audience. The actress said that she is grateful to represent the diversity and culture of India through cinema.

Meanwhile, calling it a “historic event”, Karan Johar shared his excitement to address the Australian Parliament and said that he is thrilled to be a part of it. Elaborating on his feeling, KJo said that he finds it incredible to see how far Indian films go and how they leave a cultural impact of Indian cinema on the world.

The filmmaker said he was grateful to be invited to showcase the rich heritage and storytelling of Indian cinema. He also thanked the Australian Parliament and its members for the invitation.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will reportedly honour late filmmaker Yash Chopra with the release of a postage stamp commemorating him. The film festival will begin on August 15 this year.

On the work front, Rani Mukerji was last seen in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway in 2023. Karan Johar recently produced Bad Newz starring Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri and Amy Virk last month.
