Google is gearing up to launch the Google Pixel 9 series globally in the coming week. The India launch date is set for August 14. So far, we know that the upcoming series will have 4 devices: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. And this time, the company has confirmed that the Fold will come to India as well, unlike its first foldable. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the company’s second foldable device, after the Pixel Fold, which will be launched in 2023. According to the official teaser, the company revealed that this high-end device will be deeply integrated with Gemini AI. Except for the integration of its AI and back panel, the rest of the specs and features are still under wraps. But there are several rumours and leaks that give us an idea of what the device will have. Let’s take a look at the expected specifications of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The official teaser revealed the design of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It shows a stunning design with a dual-pill-shaped camera cutout. The rear cameras are located on a rectangular module in the top-left corner, while the front-facing camera is centered within a punch-hole cutout on the top-notch of the outer display, which also spans the width of the bezel. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a metallic frame and hinge, but its rear panel could be made of plastic. The hinge of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a new design, which is more reminiscent of the OnePlus Open than its predecessor.

Google has announced that its upcoming device will be fully integrated with its AI technology, Gemini, which is a significant milestone. Notably, this AI-powered phone will debut before Apple’s iPhone 16 series, which is rumoured to feature Apple Intelligence, setting the stage for a fascinating competition between the two tech giants.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Expectations

Display: Android Authority reports that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to have a significantly larger screen than its predecessor, with the latter said to have an internal display size of 8 inches. This upgrade from the 7.4-inch screen on the Fold 1 not only represents a significant improvement but also establishes the device as a strong contender in the market.

The larger internal screen size would also lead to a taller external display, with a 6.24-inch panel that would be 0.4 inches larger diagonally than the original. However, the report doesn’t mention a display crease, and it’s worth noting that an increased screen size doesn’t necessarily mean the device will be wider, as the hinge and overall design will also play a role in determining the device’s overall dimensions.

design: According to a report published by GSMArena, the renders show the Fold in two colours, which are supposed to be called Porcelain and Obsidian. Here are the leaked images of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Camera: The teaser image gives a very faint idea of the camera on the inner screen. However, the camera specs are yet to be confirmed. For the foldable model, Google may offer a 10-megapixel front camera and a triple rear setup with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens. It is worth mentioning that these specs are taken from various leaks and rumours circulating online. Confirmed information will be revealed when the device is revealed.

Processor: The entire Pixel 9 series is expected to be powered by Google’s latest Tensor G4 chipset, which is an improvement over its predecessor. The standard Pixel 9 will reportedly have 12GB of RAM, while the Pro variants including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will reportedly have 16GB of RAM, which should bring better performance to the upcoming devices.

Battery: We speculate that this time around, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold may feature a 4,560mAh cell, as opposed to the 4,821mAh one previously. There are no reports about fast charging either. The device is expected to feature 30W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

But all these details will be confirmed only during the launch on August 14. Hence, we advise you not to rely on these completely.
