Actress and social media influencer Avneet Kaur has been accused by a jewellery brand of not fulfilling her commitment to the brand. Homegrown brand Rang posted screenshots of its communication with the Tiku Weds Sheru actress on social media, in which she had promised to promote the brand on social media in exchange for jewellery worn during her recent trip to Europe.

Sharing a screenshot, the jewellery brand explained that Avneet “agreed to tag the colour in her social media posts” as she sent them “9 exquisite pieces including double floral earrings, twisted loop handcuff bracelet and leaf motif earrings.” The post explained that the actress wore their jewellery seven times during her European trip along with outfits from luxury labels like Dior and Vivienne Westwood.

However, the post claimed that Avneet only tagged high-end brands, which suggests that she bought her accessories from them as well. When the brand through her stylist asked the actress not to mince words, she told her stylist, “Hey, I’ll pay them. How much is it?”

After Avneet returned from vacation, the brand sent her an invoice for 9 pieces and requested payment. However, she then contradicted herself, telling her stylist that she would not pay as it was a collaboration and claimed she had not worn the jewellery more than 10 times, insisting that she would only post one Instagram story.

Speaking about the incident, Akanksha Negi of Colour said, “It was a horrible experience with an influencer. I wanted to speak out about this because the exploitation of small business brands and stylists by certain celebrities and influencers is so infuriating. Just because they have a huge following on social media doesn’t give them the right to exploit us. We may be a small business brand, but we will not accept this attitude and behaviour.”

After Rang went public with her ordeal, Mittal Brahmbhatt, owner of clothing brand The Closet, also spoke about a similar incident that happened with Avneet.

He told IndiaToday.in, “I approached Akanksha as I had a similar problem with Avneet Kaur. Avneet bought clothes from my brand, The Closet, with a verbal agreement that she would post pictures wearing these clothes and give credit to our brand. Despite receiving the package, she did not upload anything for months. I repeatedly messaged her mother for updates, but got no response. After about six months, she finally made a post, but by then the collection was out of stock, and we had no plans to re-stock it, making the post useless for our brand.”

When we tried to contact Avneet and her team, they did not respond. However, her stylist said that Avneet has not responded to calls and messages regarding making payments to brands.

Avneet started her acting career in 2012 with a TV show called Meri Maa. Her breakout role was in the 2023 film Tiku Weds Sheru. She has also appeared in TV shows like Ek Mutthi Aasman, Savitri – Ek Prem Kahani, Chandra Nandini and Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga. Recently she grabbed attention with her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
