Former Disney star Zac Efron, 36, has reportedly been rushed to hospital after a “minor” incident in a swimming pool while on holiday in Spain.
As People magazine reported, Efron was vacationing at a villa in Ibiza, Spain, over the weekend when he decided to go swimming in the property’s pool with his friends. The source told the aforementioned publication that Efron suffered a “minor swimming incident” after that time.
On Monday, August 5, insiders confirmed to the outlet that the 17 Again actor’s chest hit the bottom of the pool after diving in, and as a result, water went into his lungs.
According to the outlet, security personnel at the villa helped Efron out of the water after he showed signs of discomfort. The insider added that the Baywatch star fainted for a while, and was therefore hospitalized.
The source said the 36-year-old had a chest X-ray to make sure there was no water left in his lungs. He was cleared within a few hours, but he waited at the hospital until the paparazzi who had followed him to the hospital had left. “He is doing fine,” the High School Musical alumnus’ rep told the publication.
On Sunday, August 4, Efron shared a photo of himself on his Instagram Stories, in which he was seen lifting weights while balancing his body on top of a pink exercise ball. He wrote, “Happy and healthy,” and added, “Thank you for the well wishes.” According to the outlet, the star is said to be back in the US.
As the publication reports, while the actor was in Spain, he appeared on stage with DJ Martin Garrix performing at the Ushuaia Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club. Garrix uploaded a fun moment captured in a video on his TikTok account, in which the two men can be seen dancing.
As for her professional life, she recently starred in a romantic comedy called A Family Affair, which was released on Netflix in June. The film also stars Nicole Kidman, Joey King, and Kathy Bates.
We might get a little nostalgic as we’ll see Efron in the Disney+ remake of Three Men and a Baby, released in 1987, as well as a thriller called Famous. According to the publication, both projects are in the preproduction stage.
