Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney are reportedly set to share the screen after showing their chemistry together in the romantic comedy Anyone But You. According to reports, Edgar Wright is eyeing the pair to lead his upcoming remake of The Running Man. While Powell has been in talks to join the film for quite some time, his previous co-star Sweeney could also join the film.
The original film was produced by Paul Michael Glaser with the same title and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ben Richards.
Reports from media outlets also suggest that the Euphoria star’s schedule will be a perfect fit for the shooting dates. The actress is currently busy filming the Christy Martin biopic. The film will wrap up next month and shooting for Running Man won’t begin until late October.
Meanwhile, the Madame Web actress is also set to begin shooting for the third season of Euphoria, but makers have confirmed that it won’t begin before January 2025.
Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s previous hit film, Anyone But You, had audiences going gaga over the chemistry of the onscreen couple. The story of two people falling in love with each other by fake dating revived the romantic comedy era of the early 2000s. The film was declared a box office hit and also boosted Sweeney and Powell’s careers in Hollywood.

Talking about Running Man, the original film was based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. This 1987 film talked about the future of the United States in 2017 and 2019. In a game show where the participants are criminals, they have to save themselves from being killed by hitmen.
According to the film’s synopsis, “In a fratricidal America, a falsely convicted cop gets a chance at freedom when he’s forced to participate in a TV game show where convicts, runners, must battle killers for their freedom.”
The producers of the Running Man reboot have not revealed the plot or cast. However, Powell is excited to begin working on the project. In a conversation with IndieWire, the actor revealed, “We’ve been going back and forth on script stuff, and it’s a lot of fun. The world that Edgar has developed on this thing is just outrageous.”
He added, “It’s great. And honestly, we’re both huge fans of Stephen King’s book, and it’s going to be a great character. I’m very excited about it.”
Glen Powell was last seen in the sequel of the 1996 film Twisters. The film did well at the box office.
