Dhanush’s ‘Rayan’ sets new record at the worldwide box office, crosses 100 crores
‘Raayan’ has earned Rs 100 crore worldwide in eight days. The Dhanush starrer will soon surpass ‘Maharaja’ to become the second biggest Tamil film of the year at the global box office.

Dhanush’s ‘Raayan’ has grossed Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office in eight days. It has become the third Tamil film of the year to cross this mark globally after ‘Maharaja’ and ‘Indian 2’, reports trade website. Saconilc,
The film is not getting any competitors in the Tamil market in the near future, which will further boost its box office collections. Right now, the film has earned a nett of Rs 62.97 crore in India, and has a gross of around Rs 72.75 crore. It is interesting to note that ‘Raayan’ will cross the lifetime worldwide earnings of the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer in no time. The latter earned Rs 105.69 crore in its lifetime worldwide, and ‘Raayan’ will cross this figure by the end of its second Saturday.
Its ultimate target will be to surpass the lifetime collections of ‘Indian 2’. The Kamal Haasan starrer had grossed Rs 145.53 crore worldwide and if ‘Raayan’ continues at the same pace, it will eventually surpass this mark at the worldwide box office.
What’s more? The film is on the verge of crossing the Rs 50 crore mark at the Tamil Nadu box office alone. The film will achieve this feat on its second Saturday, i.e. August 3.
‘Raayan’ is Dhanush’s third Rs 100 crore grossing film, after ‘Thiruchirambalam’ and ‘Vaathi’ which had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. It is also his fastest Rs 100 crore grossing film. It will soon surpass the lifetime collections of ‘Vaathi’ (Rs 116 crore worldwide gross) and ‘Thiruchirambalam’ (Rs 117 crore worldwide gross) to become the highest grossing film of the actor’s career.
Written and directed by Dhanush, ‘Raayan’ is the 50th film of his career. It also stars actors like SJ Surya, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sandeep Kishan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The music of the film is given by AR Rahman.
