Vivo showcases AI innovations, camera prowess and more at Vivo Tech Day 2024
Vivo celebrated its tenth anniversary in India by showcasing AI innovations and camera advancements at Vivo Tech Day 2024.
Vivo has completed its tenth anniversary in India. To celebrate the occasion, Vivo organized Tech Day 2024. Notably, this was the second time Vivo held the event showcasing the technological advancements it has incorporated in its smartphones. Vivo highlighted its intense focus on improving camera performance and the technology behind shaping the camera sensors in partnership with Zeiss. Vivo also introduced Shot On, the cover glass the company provides for its premium smartphones. Additionally, Vivo talked about its collaborations with popular artists like Shantanu Hazarika and Vimal Chauhan to design the phones.
Here is what Vivo showcased at its Tech Day event
Most notably, Vivo has partnered with ZEISS, a company known for its top-notch imaging technology. Together they have incorporated the T* coating, which makes images clearer and reduces glare, and the ZEISS APO telephoto lens, which allows for up to 100x zoom. They also introduced Multifocal Portrait, which supports five different focal lengths (24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm) to help users take professional-quality photos. This partnership further expands the capabilities of smartphone cameras.
Vivo also revealed its next-generation V3+ chip, which is a major improvement over the previous version, switching from a 12nm to a 6nm architecture. This upgrade enhances AI video algorithms and supports multiple algorithms running simultaneously, leading to better performance and lower power consumption. Additionally, Vivo highlighted its global collaboration with Sony to create the 50MP LYT 900 sensor, which is designed to perform exceptionally well in low light conditions.
Partners with Shot for its premium phone cover glass
Vivo has partnered with SCHOTT, a German company known for its advanced glass technology, to make its smartphones rugged. SCHOTT’s ZenSon series cover glass is incredibly flexible, strong, and durable. They have put this glass through rigorous tests such as drops and bends to prove its resilience. By using SCHOTT’s high-quality cover glass, Vivo is making its premium smartphones more durable and able to withstand everyday wear and tear.
AI Technology and Productivity
Vivo has teamed up with Google to make its smartphones even smarter with advanced AI features. On the X Fold3 Pro, they use Google’s AI tool, called Gemini, to help users work more efficiently and communicate better, even if they speak different languages. The new V40 series is set to bring even more exciting AI technology, especially in photography, making it easier for users to take great photos with intuitive features.
Advances in telecommunications
Vivo also said that they are also helping to create rules for how phones work with networks around the world. They are part of a larger group called 3GPP, which is responsible for creating these rules. Since 2017, Vivo has come up with over 6,000 new ideas that they have protected with patents, and they have suggested over 15,000 improvements to how phones and networks should work together.
Githaj Channana, who leads corporate strategy at Vivo India, spoke about how far the company has come in the last ten years. He said that Vivo started small but has grown a lot and is now playing a big role in the mobile phone industry. Today, more than 120 million people in India use Vivo smartphones, which shows how successful the company has become and how committed they are to making great products.
