The future of beauty: the rise of permanent makeup in modern skin care

Permanent makeup offers long-lasting solutions for shaping eyebrows and lips and creating flawless eyeliner. Is this the future of makeup?

As a dermatologist with over 13 years of experience, I have learned that aesthetics have become extremely important, and looking good plays a vital role in a person’s confidence and personality.

Yes, makeup is necessary. It should be done scientifically and correctly.

Permanent makeup is the future. I have noticed that many problems such as sensitive skin, rosacea, allergies and dermatitis occur on the face when makeup products are not suitable.

I interviewed Elora, who has recently specialized further in her permanent makeup artwork in Turkey, to understand what permanent makeup is all about. I hope these thoughts are helpful.

“Imagine perfectly shaped eyebrows, pink lips and flawless eyeliner. That’s the magic of permanent makeup, which saves you the hassle of constantly applying makeup and keeps you photo-ready 24×7,” said Elora, CEO and Founder of Elora’s PMU.

The founder told me that whether you’re on vacation and sweating it out at the gym or attending a pool party, “you don’t have to worry about your makeup smudging or fading, permanent makeup is here to help you.”

Permanent makeup (PMU) has brought about significant change in the beauty industry and is set to continue to have an impact in the years to come.

PMU, also known as micro-pigmentation, uses special techniques, such as microblading, nanomachine strokes or nano blading, ombre shading, lip blushing (including dark lip correction) and semi-permanent eyeliner for more expressive and defined eyes.

But it goes far beyond enhancing facial features. It includes scalp micropigmentation, areola tinting, concealing scars, and hiding stretch marks.

The practice of permanent makeup continues to grow in popularity due to advancements in techniques and colors, resulting in more natural-looking and longer-lasting results.

However, it is important to select an artist who has extensive experience and skill in permanent makeup.

They must strictly follow hygiene protocols, use high-quality materials and pigments to guarantee safety and achieve exceptional results. Before committing to a permanent makeup procedure, thoroughly assess the artist’s previous work.

Reviewing their portfolio, which includes before and after photos of clients, can provide information about their style, technique, and consistency in delivering desired results. Reading client testimonials and reviews also provides valuable feedback.

Is it painful? “Well, I wouldn’t call it painless, but I would say the pain is at least uncomfortable,” Elora said.

When the thought of a blade or needle comes to mind, many people think of sharp punctures and deep wounds that bleed, and the same may be true of this procedure.

However, this discomfort can be compared to a cat scratch. You will feel a slight stinging sensation. There may be temporary redness or swelling that usually resolves within 1 to 2 hours.

Is this a tattoo? Elora said yes and no.

It has some similarities with tattooing, but it differs from traditional tattooing techniques and processes.

They must be given intensive training. They must be aware of the pigments, which must be skin-friendly and, unlike traditional tattoo inks, must be medical-grade pigments specially formulated for skin compatibility.

These pigments retain their true color even after aging. While traditional tattoos reach up to the third layer of the skin, PMU procedures are limited to the first layer.

How to find a good artist and studio?

One should also do a thorough search on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, as well as Google reviews and artists’ websites.

Look for certifications, client portfolios, and testimonials to see the artist’s expertise. Never hesitate to travel between or across states to get satisfactory results.

A reputable studio and artist may not be affordable, but they will never disappoint. Just as great artwork comes at a premium, great artists are not cheap. Choosing the cheaper option often means choosing inexperienced or unqualified artists.

What do I think?

Maintaining beauty is very important as it often shapes others’ initial perception of us. By following thorough pre-care and post-care practices, individuals can achieve exceptionally natural-looking results with permanent makeup.

These routines not only prepare the skin before the procedure, but also aid in the healing process afterward, ensuring optimal results.

Permanent makeup not only ensures beautiful, lasting results, but it also boosts one’s self-confidence as a person, making the investment in PMU worthwhile.
