Bad Newz earns Rs 9 crore in second weekend, earns Rs 51.80 crore so far
The Anand Tiwari directed comedy entertainer earned a decent Rs 29.85 crore on its first weekend. The film witnessed a significant drop on its first Monday, however, with the help of the buy-one-get-one offer, it remained steady on weekdays and took its first week total to Rs 40 crore in India.
Moreover, Bad Newz earned Rs 9 crore in the second weekend despite facing tough competition from new releases. It should be noted that the BOGO offer that was introduced on the fourth day continued till the second weekend and eventually helped it cross the Rs 50 crore mark domestically.
The film has grossed over Rs 92 crore worldwide in 10 days. Of this, US$3.5 million (Rs 29 crore) has come from foreign locations.
Bad News holds up well against Deadpool and Wolverine and Ryan Wave
The Vicky Kaushal film suffered heavy losses in its second weekend due to new releases Deadpool and Wolverine and Ryan. The Hollywood superhero film is set to gross Rs 100 crore in India soon, while the Dhanush-starrer Tamil action film has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of Kollywood this year.
However, Bad Newz maintained its low run at the box office and is expected to gross Rs 60 crore in India and over Rs 100 crore worldwide by the end of its theatrical run.
Bad Newz is a profitable venture for Dharma Productions
Financed by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, Bad Newz is a financially stable project. It will be moderately profitable due to good non-theatrical and decent theatrical revenues.
