In fact, ‘Ryan’ is reportedly doing well globally as well. The film performed well in the UAE, Singapore and Malaysia, ranking second after ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.

“#Raayan opens at No. 2 in UAE, Singapore & Malaysia, just behind #DeadpoolAndWolverine,” posted trade analyst Ramesh Bala.

India Today.in gave the film 2.5 stars out of 5 in its review of ‘Raayan’. An excerpt from the same review reads: “Dhanush’s 50th film is a simple revenge story. The interval block shows glimpses of his directorial skills. However, as a writer, ‘Raayan’ lacks emotional depth. Revenge requires emotions. Despite having many ups and downs, the pay-off moments do not hit the mark as expected. The second half has many unresolved questions that are dealt with superficially. For instance, you never get a solid explanation as to why Manickam takes such a drastic decision in the second half. This is where the film falls short of being a great revenge thriller.”

The two hour 25 minute long film has received an ‘A’ certificate. The cast of the film includes Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Sandeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Prakash Raj and Selvaraghavan.

‘Raayan’ has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Om Prakash and editing by Prasanna GK. The film was released on 26 July.
