Janhvi Kapoor started her acting career in 2018 and she has given several commendable performances over the years. The actress will next star in the sports drama Mr and Mrs Mahi in 2024 and is now looking forward to Uljaah. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Janhvi was asked how she feels she has evolved as an actress. Answering the question, she also commented that she did not pay anyone to compliment her, contrary to what some people claim on social media.
Janhvi Kapoor doesn’t have the ‘budget’ to buy compliments
Janhvi Kapoor recently attended Pinkvilla’s Masterclass. The actress, who will complete 6 years in the industry in 2024, was asked: “How do you think you have evolved as an actress?” In response, Janhvi said, “I don’t know.” With a light laugh, she added, “They (audience) should say, I don’t know. I think I… I don’t know. I hope I have evolved. I think I have evolved.”
Refusing to praise herself, Janhvi said, “Lekin main khud ke baare mein kaise baithe kar bolun, ‘Main na badi confident ho gayi hun, bade acche acche performance de rahi hun’? Main khud nahi kah sakti na (But how can I sit and say about myself, ‘I have become very confident, I am performing very well’? I cannot say that myself).”
When told that people are saying good things about her, Janhvi said, “I hope so.” She jokingly added, “Paise khilwa ke bulaawa rahi hun.”
Sharing what she has seen on social media, Janhvi said, “Whenever I see someone praising someone by mistake on social media, they keep saying, ‘This is his PR, this is his.’
Talking about her reaction, Janhvi shared, “I say ‘no’… I don’t have that much budget to get people to praise me.”

About Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming movie Uljhan
The trailer of Uljhan has already been released which introduces Janhvi Kapoor’s character Suhana Bhatia. The story of the film is based on the world of international diplomacy where Suhana has to face challenges in her personal and professional life. The first song of the music album Shaukaan has also been released. It is a party number sung by Neha Kakkar, Jubin Nautiyal and Shashwat Sachdev. The song has been composed by Shashwat Sachdev and the lyrics have been written by Kumaar.
The film stars Janhvi along with Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Adil Hussain, Rajendra Gupta, Rajesh Tailang, Miang Chang and Jitendra Joshi in pivotal roles. Presented by Junglee Pictures, Uljhan is directed by Sudhanshu Saria.
The film is written by Parvez Sheikh and Sudhanshu Saria, while the dialogues are written by Atika Chauhan. It is produced by Vineet Jain and co-produced by Amrita Pandey. Ulaj is set to release in theatres on August 2.
Janhvi will next be seen in Devraa: Part 1, which will mark her Telugu debut. Directed by Koratala Siva, the action drama also stars Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
