Deadpool and Wolverine are all set to enthrall audiences when they release in theatres soon. Bringing back two of the most loved mutants, the film also introduces a new and major character, Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin. Talking about her character, Corrin recently spoke about how she prepared herself for the role.
Emma Corrin on preparing for Deadpool and Wolverine
As revealed in the trailer, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova will be the main antagonist of the only Marvel movie released this year. Much will be revealed in the film when it hits theaters this weekend, but Corrin has reflected on how she prepared herself to play a very important role in the world of mutants.
Cassandra Nova, popular among comic book fans, is the twin sister of the famous Charles Xavier. So, to give the audience a feel for her superpowered telepathic brother from the comics, Corrin studied the character from previous Fox Studios entries.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Corrin said, “I revisited those two performances,” referring to Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier.
Speaking further about herself, the nonbinary actor recalled that while preparing for the role, she once asked herself if she needed to hew too closely to Stewart and McAvoy’s performances, while also wondering if she would be able to portray herself.
Speaking about Stewart and McAvoy, Corrin said they were great at playing a powerful man. She added, “I wanted to see if there was anything I could use or pay homage to.”

Elaborating on her character’s look, Emma Corrin said that Cassandra Nova’s character in Deadpool and Wolverine is very comical. She further said that the character’s suit and her strange fingers will do justice to the villain’s look and will also depict a great origin story.
Corrin also said fans will also see his relationship with his brother Charles Xavier in Deadpool and Wolverine.
Patrick Stewart first brought the character to life in the 2000s X-Men. Later in 2011, the Narnia actor played the younger version of the head of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in theaters this weekend on July 26th.
