An IMAX projectionist has shared a stunning view from inside the projection booth during a screening of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Describing the experience as extraordinary, he urged the audience not to miss watching the film in IMAX 70mm if they get a chance.

IMAX film projectionist Taylor Umphenour shared a series of photos from inside the projection booth on Instagram. Images taken from the projectionist’s perspective show giant IMAX screens and packed auditoriums, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how odyssey is presented before the audience.

Sharing his experience he wrote, “Projectionist POV: The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm. It was an amazing weekend presenting this film in IMAX 70mm to a sold-out show around the clock. It is the first feature film shot end-to-end with film cameras in the IMAX 70mm format (sic).”
He added, “Director Christopher Nolan has been a pioneer in the use of IMAX cameras for decades, and odyssey represents the culmination of that work – pushing the format further than ever before. For those of us in IMAX projection, it is a privilege to bring this 11-mile film print to life exactly as intended.”
Concluding his post, Umphenour said that each screening confirmed how extraordinary the theatrical experience still can be. He also urged audiences to watch The Odyssey in IMAX 70 mm film if they get the chance.
Not every IMAX screening is the same
