Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned the United States on Saturday that it would receive ‘unforgettable lessons’ if it continued attacking the Islamic republic, while declaring that US President Donald Trump’s signature is ‘worthless and invalid.’The written statement, read on Iranian state television, came hours after Tehran announced it was suspending its commitments under an interim agreement signed nearly a month ago, as the United States and Iran continued to exchange attacks on military and infrastructure targets. He said, “Now that the US enemy is trying to escalate the conflict, causing it to pay a heavy price and suffer more humiliation, it should know that the great nation of Iran and the resistance front have unforgettable lessons for it.”Khamenei accused Washington of violating the agreement, saying “the US president’s signature is ‘worthless and invalid'”. He said, “The repeated violations of the agreement by the Great Satan (US) regarding the MOUs signed by the Presidents of Iran and the US have once again exposed the basic truth: the signatures of the US President are completely worthless and devoid of credibility.”He said, “Today, the Great Satan has once again exposed his true, unmasked face, making this dark episode of criminality and broken promises yet another undeniable proof of America’s dishonesty, irrationality, unreliability, and malicious nature.”He also said that Iran would not respond alone and that the “axis of resistance” would also act against US aggression. He further praised Iranian forces, saying, “The bravery of the Islamic fighters and the honor of the courageous people in the southern regions in recent days exemplify (the Iranian nation’s unforgettable lesson for the American enemy).”The statement is Khamenei’s first public message since the conflict flared up again and comes amid growing uncertainty over diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the fighting.Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran had suspended its commitments under the interim agreement, accusing Washington of violating the accord.“The US has violated and suspended all its commitments within the framework of the Islamabad MOU,” Gharibabadi said.He said Iran has also suspended implementation of the agreement and is “busy defending the country.”The agreement signed nearly a month ago was intended to mark a step toward ending the conflict, but Tehran’s announcement signaled a further breakdown in diplomatic efforts. The statement came as the conflict entered another week, with the United States striking Iranian military and infrastructure targets for the seventh consecutive night, while Iran expanded attacks on US allies in the Gulf. Kuwait reported damage to an oil facility and a desalination plant, and the two sides continued to exchange attacks around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over regional security and global energy supplies.
